Immunizations and Communicable Disease

Public Health investigates communicable diseases in the county for the protection of the residents.  We work closely with state and local agencies to determine the origin of the disease as well as limit its spread. Here is a list of reportable communicable diseases that require investigation.

Chaffee County Public Health offers childhood vaccinations for children through 19 years of age.  The vaccines are provided free through the Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program for a suggested donation of 10 dollars. The CDC Recommended Immunizations brochure for children 0-6 and children 7-18.   The following immunizations are offered:
DTap/ Tdap – Diphtheria, Tetanus (Lockjaw), Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
Hep A -Hepatitis A
Hep B-Hepatitis B
HIB  – Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
HPV – Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Cervical/Anal Cancer, Genital Warts
Influenza Influenza (Seasonal Flu)
MMR -Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German Measles)
Meningitis - Meningococcal
Pneumonia- Pneumococcal
Polio - Poliomyelitis
Rotaviruv -Rotavirus
Chicken Pox -Varicella,
